  HOW TO GET HELP
You do not need to be referred by a physician in order to be admitted to the COAL WORKERS AND CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASE PROGRAM. The program is open to anyone with a respiratory disorder. You do not have to be a coal worker. If you wish, all studies and recommendations made by the Clinic will be provided to your family physician. The Pulmonary Lab and the Coal Workers Program are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am. to 5:00 p.m.

    HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
To help us properly diagnose and treat your problem, you will provide a complete medical history and information about your work experience. You will be given a blood test, a chest x-ray, EKG, and a breathing test. These studies will give our diagnostic team an overview of your physical condition as you start the program. The tests will be repeated each year so that we can monitor any change in your medical status. The Medical Director of the COAL WORKERS AND CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASE PROGRAM is a physician specially trained in respiratory disorders. The Medical Director will examine your lungs and prescribe the treatment needed to improve your respiratory condition.
