  MY NEW WEIGH OF LIFE

“My New Weigh of Life,” a weight-management program that stresses losing weight and keeping it off, is offered periodically by Centerville Clinics and the Washington County Cooperative Extension Service. Sheilia Burcin, Washington County Extension Director and a registered dietition, and Henrietta Shader, Health Education Coordinator at Centerville Clinics, teach the course.

What makes this course different, says Ms. Shader, is that it includes strategies for maintaining weight loss. She notes, “This program stresses how to lose weight safely and effectively, and then what needs to be done after the person loses the weight.”

Noting that losing 5 or 10 pounds can have a significant health benefit even for those people who are obese or seriously overweight, Ms. Shader points out, “The goal should be to commit to lifelong changes, notably increasing physical activity and cutting caloric intake.”

For more information on “My New Weigh of Life” and information on when the program will be offered next, call Henrietta Shader at 724-632-6801.
